On Monday, November 11, Atlantic County will recognize 27 military veterans who currently reside at the county’s Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at its annual Veterans Day Program presented in coordination with the Atlantic County Veterans Advisory Board.
The program will begin at 2 PM. If weather permits, it will be held in the outside courtyard behind the facility, located at 235 Dolphin Avenue, Northfield. Otherwise, it will be held in the main lobby.
“It is our honor and privilege to salute our veterans and express our continued appreciation for their sacrifice and service,” stated Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Executive. “Our debt of gratitude can never fully be repaid.”
The Atlantic County Veterans Museum will be open on Veterans Day, 10 AM – 4 PM, and will feature a photographic exhibit, “Legacy of Remembrance: Armistice Day Monuments of New Jersey,” that highlights monuments created and installed around New Jersey after World War I. Historian/Photographer Erik L. Burro will give a presentation about the monuments on Saturday, November 16 at 1 pm at the museum. The exhibit will be available until January 4, 2025. Normal hours of operation are Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM. Group tours are available by appointment. Call (609) 909-7305.
The museum features artifacts and personal histories of many Atlantic County veterans, highlighting wars and conflicts from the Revolutionary War through modern day with keepsakes and mementos of veterans and their family members. It is located at 189 Route 50 South, Mays Landing, ¼ mile south of the Atlantic County Park and the Richard E. Squires Veterans Cemetery.
County offices will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of the holiday. For more information, please visit www.atlanticcountynj.gov.
