Office of Education

The Atlantic County Office of Education (ACOE) serves as the local field office and representative for the New Jersey Department of Education. There are twenty-one county offices within the Division of Field Services of the NJDOE.

The ACOE has a mission to provide equitable educational support which includes evaluation, regulation, compliance, coordination, assistance and service. Enrollment in the county public school system (Pre-K-12) exceeds 43,000 students.

Technical assistance, support, and monitoring is provided to the twenty-four public school districts and three charter schools of the county in the areas of program development and approval, assessment and testing, budget and finance, facilities, curriculum and instruction, staff development, special education, equity, staff certification, legislation, and mandated regulations or guidelines.

Office of Comprehensive Support

The Southern Regional Support Team (RST) in the Office of Comprehensive Support, Department of Education is located in the Atlantic County Office of Education.

The Office works with the school districts to provide high quality educational programs that are equitable and efficient; that prepare students for employment and citizenship; and that promote students’ intellectual, ethical, cultural, social, emotional, and physical growth.

Executive County Superintendent of Schools

The Executive County Superintendent of Schools works closely with the County Executive, Board of County Commissioners and various local and county agencies with respect to educational issues and initiatives. Collaborative and shared services initiatives have received significant emphasis.

The Executive County Superintendent of Schools serves as a member of the Board of Education for Atlantic County Special Services School District, the Atlantic County Vocational School District and the Board of Trustees of Atlantic Cape Community College.
