Personal Assistance Services Program (PASP)
The Personal Assistance Services Program (PASP) affords eligible permanently physically disabled adults the ability to hire and direct their own personal assistant to aid them with their activities of daily living.
Services Available
Personal assistants help individuals with tasks such as light housekeeping, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, shopping, correspondence, mobility, driving and/or use of public transportation. Individuals may receive up to 40 hours per week depending on need.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for PASP if you are:
- A New Jersey resident
- Have a permanent physical disability which requires physical assistance
- Capable of directing and supervising your own services
- Employed, attending college / vocational training or actively engaging in volunteer activities in the community at a minimum of 20 hours per month
- Over the Age of 18
- Living in the community
Paying for Services
Depending on income, some individuals pay no fee. Others pay a portion of the cost of service based on a sliding fee scale. The remaining cost is covered by the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services.
