NARCAN Information and Training
Learn How to Recognize and Prevent an Overdose
Residents can receive FREE Narcan training from the Atlantic County Opioid Awareness and Narcan program.
Narcan is an emergency treatment that is used to save someone who is having a heroin or opioid overdose.
Participants will receive a FREE Opioid Overdose Narcan Kit that provides the tools needed to save a life.

New Jersey Department of Human Service Free Naloxone (Narcan) Program
Eligible agencies who can apply to the program include the following:
- First responder agencies such as law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services
- Harm reduction agencies
- DMHAS-contracted community peer recovery centers
- County prosecutor’s offices
- DMHAS contracted family support centers
- Libraries
- Mobile outreach providers
- Opioid treatment programs
- Re-entry programs
- DMHAS-contracted treatment programs
- Shelters
Interested agencies who meet eligibility requirements must register the NJ DHS Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services website. Once registration is completed, registered agencies will be able to log-in to the Naloxone Distribution Portal and submit requests for naloxone as needed.
