Solid Waste Advisory Council (SWAC): The function of the SWAC is to assist the county in the development and formulation of the Solid Waste Management Plan for the County of Atlantic required by N.J.S.A. 13:1E-1 et seq., to assist in the biennial review of the plan required by statute and to provide advice and assistance to county officers and agencies on any other matter concerning solid waste as such officers and agencies, through the County Executive, may request.

To assist the SWAC in performing its functions, the agency or agencies responsible for implementing the Solid Waste Management Plan shall have a representative present at each regularly or specially scheduled meeting of the SWAC in order to provide information on implementation activities.

Membership

The SWAC members shall consist of persons:

  • Engaged in or have a background in environmental management activities
  • Engaged in the collection and disposal of solid waste
  • Representatives of industries or businesses which are major waste generators or major energy users
  • Citizens residing in Atlantic County.

Number of Vacancies: 12

Meetings

The SWAC meets on an as needed basis. The meetings are usually held in the evening on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Anthony Canale Training Center in Egg Harbor Township.
